Excel provide steel-hinged door to increase security for Vale Services

Excel Industrial Doors and Shutters have collaborated with Vale Services, a Leeds-based facilities management company, on various projects. One of their most recent projects included making improvements to a site on Salters Row in Pontefract.

After speaking with the client, it was determined that in this instance a roller shutter would not be the best solution, and instead our bespoke steel-hinged doors would be better suited. Designed, manufactured and installed by the team at Excel, our doors offer a low-cost, low-maintenance security solution as well as providing great fire protection and noise reduction. Our team therefore visited the site to take the relevant measurements and begin preparations for the manufacture of the door.

Made to fit a 1070mm wide x 2100mm high opening, the door leaf was constructed from 1.2mm Zintec steel with a folded 45mm thick leaf composite Dufalyte honeycomb core and an integral anti-jemmy strip to prevent the door being prised open.

The door frame was also made with Zintec steel and measured 1.6mm thick with a 150mm single rebate profile, as well as multiple grade 13 stainless steel hinges. 3-point panic bars were also fitted to the door to allow for a swift entrance and exit even in emergency situations, as well as an external override complete with a euro cylinder lock and lever handle.

Once a powder coated finish had been applied, it was time to transport and fit the door. Thanks to our thorough and bespoke process, the team was able to install the door with no fuss. With our steel-hinged door safely in place, the site was immediately a lot more secure and the client was more than satisfied with our work.
